Vickie

Client Services Representative

When Vickie took her first front desk job at a veterinary clinic, she thought it would be temporary.

As a journalist and writer, she was between gigs and needed extra cash. But that “summer job” turned into a 20-plus-year career and took her to several Bay Area veterinary hospitals, the most recent of which is Terra Linda.

Vickie liked veterinary client service because she enjoyed being the client’s voice. Helping them relay their true feelings, hopes and fears about their pets to the clinical team – especially in times of serious illness – is a valuable skill, and necessary in a field where the patients can’t speak for themselves.

When Vickie isn’t juggling phone lines, prescription refills or rooming patients, she continues to work freelance as a journalist for news outlets and as a ghost blogger for veterinary forums. She is also working on a novel and promises none of her colleagues or clients will be mined (much) for material.

Her perfect day off is hiking with her little dog with a big name (Mildred “Millie” Pierce Helen DeHamer), eating a Chinese Tofu Salad and lazing the day away with a good book.
